It’s official. The court has ruled. The United States military can no longer expel one of “America’s Best” by reason of sexual orientation.
It is yet another victory in a long list of victories for the GLBT rights movement, with still a few more hurdles to climb. But they are gaining momentum. And they are going to achieve full equality. Just like the Native Americans. Just like the African Americans. Just like everybody else.
Maybe I should join the military, as an entertainer, reading poetry to raise patriotic morale. Wait a minute. Those days are over. But if they did they wouldn’t take up brain-injured people like me, poet or not. I’m too much a liability for them to handle, especially with all the medicine I take.
But what if I didn’t get hit by a truck 18 years ago (when I was just four years old), and I still lived a bisexual lifestyle, with likings of both men and women as an adult, would they now take me in as a soldier? But then again, after supporting it at first, I’ve come to understand my pacifism, so I’m pretty much against it, anyhow.
But for my fellow members of the GLBT community who support the war, and do wish to enlist I send them my best wishes and pray for their safe return.
My love goes to all. God bless.
Somehow i missed the point. Probably lost in translation
Anyway … nice blog to visit.
cheers, Gamine.
