BARACK OBAMA SEEMS TO HAVE THE NOMINATION IN THE BAG

With only five primaries to go to determine the Presidential nominee of the Democratic Party, it looks very much like Barack Obama is going to obtain enough delegates to become the first African American in either of the two big parties to run in the general election come November 4.

According to the CNN delegate poll Obama is leading Hillary Clinton 1,909 to 1,718.

The MSNBC ticker has Obama up 1,901 to Clinton’s 1,727.

And on Wikipedia.com Obama is leading 1,915 to 1,719.

Three of the final five states up for grabs — Oregon, Montana, and South Dakota — appear to be in Obama country, as the Illinois senator has won much of the bordering states, while Kentucky may likely go to Clinton, making tomorrow’s “Super Tuesday” a virtual split.

But even if Hillary wins Kentucky, Obama will continue to gain closer ground on the 2,025 delegate plateau.

My prediction now is, with 238 delegates still up for grabs, Barack Obama is going to end up with at least that total, most likely on the final primary day in June. Deciding the nominee at the Democratic Convention in Denver is now a most likely unnecessary task.
