ITUNES REMOVE HOMOPHOBIC SONGS FROM CATALOG

iTunes stores in Canada has removed several anti-gay songs by Jamican dancehall artists, following complaints from GLBT rights organizations because the lyrics advocated the killing of gay people. These artists include Elephant Man, Buju Banton, and T.O.K. Concerts by such groups have been cancelled for similar reasons in the UK, as well as in Canada. And calls have been made for Canadian officials to deport Elephant Man, as well as Sizzla (another musicial act encouraging violence to GLBT men and women).

The United States, however, have not acted in response to Canada’s decision to ban the songs on iTunes, as it is still available to listeners.
