MARTINA NAVRATILOVA IS A CZECH CITIZEN AGAIN — THANKS TO MR. BUSH

And for his homophobic actions, you can - for the most part - thank George W. Bush, and his evil administration. I mean, Martina is forbidden in most states to marry her lesbian lover. One such state includes Colorado, where Martina lives with her partner. And it’s a shame, as of right now, that if Martina or her lover were to get beaten up it wouldn’t be considered a hate crime.

Since communism has since eroded in her native Czech Republic, Martina now believes she would feel better back at home, where gay rights are more recognized. And personally, I feel happy for her. She and her partner deserve better. And in the Czech Republic, they can register for civil unions, though there is currently talk there of actually making gay marriage legal.

In an interview with a Czech newspaper last year, the tennis great lamented “We elected Bush. That is worse! Against that, nobody chose a communist government in Czechoslovakia.”

Now that she is a Czech again, having obtained citizenship January 9, Martina plans to open a tennis academy for young players over there. Could she make or break a budding phenom? Martina’s advice to Yuri Sharapov in the early 1990s proved benefitial to a six-year old girl named Maria.

Martina may not be on the WTA circuit this year, but the 51-year old superstar will be slamming down volleys as a member of the Boston Lobsters of World Team Tennis this July.

Right now, I wish Martina all the blessings. As for George W. Bush, the man who drove her back to Czech citizenship, I wish him hell.
